Prepare for your internal medicine clinical rounds and the end-of-rotation exam with the fully revised and updated Internal Medicine Essentials for Clerkship Students 2! This new edition is organized around the major training areas included in the nationally recognized Core Medicine Clerkship Curriculum Guide. It contains 25% more content, over 100 additional differential diagnosis tables and treatment algorithms, and a new index. The book is enhanced with over 460 pages of online materials, including new clinical photographs, tables, screening tools, and other instruments. A collaboration of the American College of Physicians and the Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine, this new edition was written by authors who helped design the internal medicine curriculum and who are actively involved in teaching students on the Internal Medicine clerkship. There is nothing wrong with this book per se, but if you are studying for your medicine clerkship and medicine shelf exam, it is not entirely adequate. If you use this book with Student MKSAP, you would be much better off than if you used this alone. If you want to substitute this book for another more complete book, look at Step Up to Medicine. I would add that the emphasis of this book is sometimes maldistributed -- for instance the book goes into great detail on the treatment of the common cold, but glosses over some important, albeit less common conditions in the gastroenterology section.
